Hello, I am 45 yrs. My last cycle was in April, it is now July, nothing since then, just stopped. Previous to that my cycle was coming every 20 days for months, with heavy bleeding and clotting and bad cramps, which was unusual for me as it was usually lighter with no cramps. I have, over the past few yrs. undergone DNC’s and removal of fibroids and polyps. I have been waking at night, numerous times, completely soaked from sweat and having to change my night clothes and sometimes the sheets as well, for the past couple yrs. Originally, I just though it was just menopause and was happy to be rid of it, but it occurred to me recently that perhaps there may be another reason for my cycle’s absence that may indicate some type of problem.

Drugs Epilepsy Drugs
Generic anti-epilepsy drugs, pharmaceutical products similar to brand-name versions, save consumers billions of dollars each year, but some are different enough from branded formulations that they may not be effective, particularly if patients switch between two generic drugs, a new study by Johns Hopkins researchers suggests. A report on the study, published online and in an upcoming issue of, raises questions about whether some generic products are safe and effective when a narrow dose range separates patients from help and harm.

Hiv
State health officials are using a new approach to encourage men who have sex with men to get tested for HIV. The Alaska Division of Public Health (DPH), Section of Epidemiology, recently sent notices to Fairbanks-area MSM posting advertisements soliciting casual sex on two websites. “There has been a recent increase of new HIV cases in your area associated with users of this site. Your health may be at risk,” the notice said. The message included information about free rapid HIV testing DPH was offering and concluded, “We strongly encourage you to be tested, even if you were negative recently.” A separate message, sent to recent website visitors from the Fairbanks area, excluded the first two sentences but encouraged HIV testing. Battle Diabetes Diabetes
A SCOTTISH patient says her life has been transformed after a specialist transplant to help treat her debilitating diabetes. Kathleen Duncan, from Dunfermline, would frequently be found unconscious at home and collapsed on the street as she struggled with low blood sugar caused by Type 1 diabetes. But after becoming the first patient in Scotland to undergo a transplant ADVERTISEMENTof cells from a donor pancreas, she no longer needs to use insulin and life has dramatically improved for both her and her family.Staff at the Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service’s Islet Isolation Laboratory in Edinburgh now hope that up to 12 patients a year could benefit from the procedure.Developments in stem cell technology could mean that islet cells – the insulin-producing cells found in the pancreas – could be produced without the need for donor organs, widening the procedure to even more patients.Mrs Duncan, 52, has suffered from diabetes for 32 years, with the last six seeing her condition deteriorate.
